Men's Soccer Huskies pickup first win of season in battle against Voyageurs

Hafid Arellano recorded the first hat trick of his Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) career as six different Keyano Huskies Men's Soccer student-athletes found the back of the net in an 8-0 win Sunday afternoon at Shell Place.

Tano Torchia sparked the crowd with his first ACAC goal in the eighth minute, followed a minute later by Arellano's first. Arellano would complete the natural hat trick with goals in the 29th and 48th minute, building the lead to 4-0.

From there, Mario Morote's first ACAC goal as well as strikes from Dylan Stewart, William Ly, and Cleisson Anklam rounded out the scoring. The Voyageurs did well to challenge the Huskies, coming close on a few strikes, but ultimately not finding the back of the net on this day.

McMurrayite Corbin Cyprien earned the victory and shutout in Sunday's action.

Dominic Simpson of the Voyageurs and Arellano of the Huskies claimed Player of the Game honours.

The two teams will close out their season series on Friday, October 6 when the Huskies travel south to face the Voyageurs.
