Trojans blast Broncos in Olds

The SAIT Trojans took definitive control late in the first half, ultimately defeating the Olds College Broncos 8-0 at Richardson Pioneer Field on Saturday.

Rinor Hoxha scored four goals for the Trojans (2-0-0) to pick up Player of the Game honours, while Samuel Okawa, Esrom Yohannes, Rhys Faragher and Jon Ingram each added singles for SAIT, and Oliver Allen preserved the clean sheet for the CCAA's third-ranked team.

Meanwhile, Sam Lorincz was named the Player of the Game for the Broncos (0-2-1).

After a scoreless opening half hour, the Trojans opened things up in the 28th minute with Hoxha opening up the scoring, with Okawa following up two minutes later. Yohannes then struck in the 35th minute to extend the lead to three before Hoxha completed a hat trick with goals in the 40th and 42nd minutes to give the Trojans a 5-0 lead going into halftime.

Hoxha didn't waste any time adding to his offensive output with his fourth of the afternoon in the 48th minute, with Faragher in the 59th minute and Ingram in the 68th minute adding even more insurance.

SAIT will host the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings at noon tomorrow, while the Broncos' next game will be Sept. 24 when they travel to battle the Ambrose University Lions at 4 p.m.
