Rattlers & Broncos Battle for a Draw on Opening Weekend

In a game that seen a combined 28 fouls and 5 yellow cards, the Rattlers and Broncos scrapped their way to a 1-1 draw at the MHC Soccer pitch on a beautiful late Saturday afternoon home opener. The Broncos came out of the shoots quick with a goal in the 9th minute by Matija Mitrovic to open the scoring. Olds seemed to control the early minutes of the match but couldn't extend their lead. In an odd case of following the bouncing ball in the 30th minute, Rattlers defender Mizuki Ozawa (2nd year, Fujeda, Japan, University Studies) knocked the ball just over the line passed an out of position Broncos 'keeper. The rest of the half seemed to be a battle back and forth with numerous fouls on both team but no goals to add to the score line.

The second half was much like the first filled with high intensity fuelled by a wonderful crowd at MHC. Teams would exchange chances at each end but neither team could find that decisive second goal. The game would end in a 1-1 draw. The Rattlers host RDP on Sunday while the Broncos travel to Lethbridge to take on the Kodiaks on Sunday as well.

The Tiki Press Player of the Game was Pedro  Noschang for the Broncos and De'Shaunt Gelinas-Cato for the Rattlers.
