NAIT Takes the First Game of the Series at Home

Tonight's game saw the visiting Concordia Thunder take on the NAIT Ooks in game 1 of their best of 3 series to open the 2024 playoffs. The first period saw both teams coming out very physical. The Ooks had the first scoring opportunity of the game as they were able to get an early powerplay, but the Thunder keeper #30 Griffin Bowerman was able to keep the door shut. The Ooks continued on the attack for the rest of the period but were unable to put one on the board as after 20-minutes it remained tied.

The score was 0-0 after the 1st period.

Coming out of the intermission, the Ooks were able to score a quick one to take the lead. The Ooks goal was score #24 Colin Schmidt with assists from #13 Noah Lamb and #15 Ty Whitford. The Ooks were able to continue on the attack adding an insurance goal. The goal was score by #23 Ethan Leyer with the assists coming from #11 Bryce Osepchuk and #8 Jared Brock.

The Ooks lead 2-0 after the 2nd period.

The third period saw the Thunder have multiple scoring chances, but the Ooks goalie #33 Ryley Osland was able to keep the door shut. The Thunder were able to finally get one past the Ooks keeper with 6-minutes to go in the game, cutting their deficit to 1. The Thunder goal was scored by #20 Dallon Wilton with the assists coming from #27 Tyler Schendel and #37 Carson Kurylo. The Ooks were able to regain their 2 goal lead coming off a goal from #19 Kenyon Nyman with the assists by #8 Jared Brock and #23 Ethan Leyer. The Ooks were able to add an empty netter to seal the victory. The goal was scored by #10 Garin Butler with the assist from #7 Brandon Lawson.

The Ooks took game 1 by a score of 4-1. Game 2 will be tomorrow night @6:15pm @Concordia.
