NAIT Get Swept at Home

Tonight's action saw the visiting Concordia Thunder take on the NAIT Ooks in the battle of Edmonton. Both of the teams came out flying with multiple early shots and big hits. An early powerplay for the Ooks saw them continue to muster shots on goal, but Thunder goalie #30 Griffin Bowerman was able to keep the door shut. The game's first goal came on a Thunder powerplay. The goal was score by #13 Rylan Nivon with the assists coming from #10 Griffen Ryder and #21 Seth Summers. The Thunder continue their attack netting a second goal coming from #27 Tyler Schendel with the helper going to #6 Jordan Bechtold. The fast-paced opening period saw the Thunder score another last minute powerplay goal to increase their lead. The goal was scored by #21 Seth Summers with assists coming from #37 Carson Kurylo and #12 Isaac Leik.

After the 1st period the Thunder were up 3-0.

The action out of the intermission started to get physical. Multiple penalties were handed out to both teams in the first half of the period resulting in a seven-minute powerplay for the Thunder. This resulted in the Thunder adding to their lead with another goal. The goal was score by # Isaac Leik with the assists coming from #27 Tyler Schendel and #10 Griffen Ryder. They continued to pour it on with the extended powerplay by adding another goal from #27 Tyler Schendel with the assists coming from #17 Gabe Odowichuk and #12 Isaac Leik. The Ooks were finally able to answer back at the end of the period with a goal from #23 Ethan Leyer.

After the 2nd period the Thunder were up 5-1.

The third period saw much of the same physical play carry over from the second. Both teams saw powerplays in the first half of the period, but neither were able to capitalize with the man advantage. The Ooks tried to keep the pressure up and cut into the lead but kept getting turned away by the Thunders keeper #30 Griffin Bowerman.

The final score was 5-1 for the Thunder.
