Ooks Fly High Over Voyageurs

The NAIT Ooks men's hockey team hosted the Portage College Voyageurs on Friday night. The Ooks came out on top, winning 4-1 over the Voyageurs. 

In the first period, the Ooks and Voyageurs had a lot of back and forth. Despite the solid first period, the Voyageurs outshot the Ooks, putting pressure on the home team. Ooks' goalie Ryley Osland stood solid in the net, making 13 saves. Eventually, the Ooks scored first, with Bjorn Robinson scoring and the assists going to Drae Gardiner and Keegan Tiringer. At the end of the first period, the Ooks led 1-0. 

The second period between the Ooks and Voyageurs was competitive. Osland and Voyageurs' goalie, Luke Hall, made some incredible saves. The Ooks put another in the net, with Ethan Leyer scoring during a 2-on-1. The assist went to Drae Gardiner. The Ooks continued their offensive pressure and scored their third goal. Brandon Lawson scored with the assists going to Robinson and Tiringer. The Ooks extended their lead to 3-0 over the Voyageurs.

The third period saw the only goal from the Voyageurs, scored shorthanded by Xavier Halterman and the assist going to Shaye Sommerfeld. The rest of the third period had incredible offensive opportunities for the Ooks but even better saves by Voyageur goalie Luke Hall. In the last minute of the game, the Ooks Tiringer scored on an empty net, bringing the final score to 4-1.
