Ooks Reign Over Kings

Friday night, the NAIT Ooks men's hockey team faced off against the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and held their Neon Night with NAIT for Make Some Noise For Mental Health. The Ooks won the game 7-0. 

The first period was close between the Ooks and Kings. Ooks' goalie Ryley Osland and the Kings' goalie Arik Weersink made numerous saves throughout the period. Late in the period, the Ooks, Jackson Hassman, scored with the assists going to Bryce Osepchuk and Kenyon Nyman. The Ooks ended the first period with a 1-0 lead over the Kings. 

In the second period, the Ooks came out on fire, scoring two goals in the first five minutes. Ooks Brandon Lawson scored the second goal for their team off of a beautiful tip, and the assists went to Cale Lyons and Ty Yoder. Garin Butler scored the third goal, with the assist going to Keegan Tiringer. The Ooks' offence continued to excel as they scored on the power play. Bjorn Robinson scored, and the assists went to Eric Lacome and Noah Lamb. Ooks' Ethan Leyer scored the fifth goal of the night, and the assists went to Drae Gardiner and Yoder. Just before the period ended, Ooks' Brophy Dunne scored, and the assists went to Jared Brock and Ty Whitford. At the end of the second period, the Ooks led 6-0. 

The third period was more evenly matched, with both teams having strong spells of possession. The Ooks scored a final time, with Ethan Leyer netting the 7th NAIT goal of the game. The final score was 7-0.
