Clippers Come up short in Saturday Rematch

After a first period which was heavy on shooting but had no goals sunk, Briercrest player Caleb Grandfield (#44) scored early in the second period with assists from teammates Coleton Aikens (#16) and Reagan Doncelet (#11).

While the Clippers attempted to keep this positive momentum going Ty Yoder (#16) from NAIT scored on the powerplay (with assists from #11, Bryce Osepcheck and #24, Colin Schmetti) to tie the game. Following his lead Ooks player #23, Ethan Leyer, and #9 Bjorn Robenson (assisted by #6, Keegan Tiringer, and #11, Bryce Osepcheck) sunk two goals securing a 3-1 lead for the Ooks going into the beginning of the third period.

The Clippers fought hard, cheered on by their hometown fans, to close the gap but were unable to score anything more in the third, and final, period of the game. NAIT player #7, Brandon Lawson (assisted by #15, Ty Whitford, and #27, Cale Lyons) landed the fourth and final goal of the game. As the game came to a close, the shots on goal were recorded to be 31-27 (BC-NAIT).

Next weekend the Briercrest Clippers will be travelling to Camrose, Albera to play the UAA Oilers.
