Thunder fall to Kings 3-2

EDMONTON AB – In tonight's match, the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder, took on the visiting Red Deer College (RDC) Kings. This back and forth affair ended 3-2 in favour of the Kings.

The Kings opened up the scoring in the first with a nice dangle to split the D and sneak one past the Thunder goalie. This would be the only goal of the period, but both teams had plenty of chances on the man advantage but couldn't record the tally. The Thunder ended the period with a man in the box and a successful early second penalty kill temporarily gave the Thunder some momentum, but were unable to capitalize. The Kings went up two midway through the second, but the Thunder responded quickly by posting a very dominant 8 minutes to tie the game up at two and end the second on a high note.

The Thunder started the 3rd period in the box, but had a solid shorthanded scoring chance, resulting in a big save from the Kings goalie. The Kings then responded with a tally a few minutes later to go up by 1 with just over 17 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately for the Thunder, that would be the game winning goal.

The Big Kahuna Players of the game, for the visiting Kings, #2 Donovan Lumb and for the Thunder, #14 Keegan Tiringer. Tomorrow they will face off again and the Thunder will look to even the series.
