Lakeland survives thriller against Wolves to advance

The ending was as tense an ending as fans have ever seen at Lakeland, but the Rustlers were able to pull through and return to top four status in the ACAC

Saturday night they faced a determined NWP Wolves team, led by Player of the Year candidate Manny Iioka. However, it looked like the Rustlers were going to run away with the contest, outscoring NWP 25-14 in the opening frame. The Wolves slowly chipped away at the lead, eventually getting it down to a couple of possessions.

The fourth quarter saw the Rustlers regain a double digit lead, only for the visitors to battle back again. In the dying minutes the game remained in reach and then Wolves hit multiple big shots, focring the Rustlers to the line. After a missed free throw, NWP had a chance to tie the game but Baha Salma came up with one of the biggest blocks of the season. Final score was 74-70.

Salma was POG, while McFadden had a game high 22 points.

With the win, the Rustlers now await the result of Keyano and NAIT in the other quarterfinal. if the Huskies win, the team is off to Fort McMurray next weekend for the Final Four. If the Ooks win, then Lakleand will host the men's tournament Firday and Saturday.
