Down by three at the half, the Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team came out on a hot streak in the third quarter to roll to an 80-61 victory against the visiting Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Saturday at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre.
Twenty-one points from Omeechi Williams led all players in the contest. DJ Haynes and Evan Meyer had 15-point performances while Nahshon Hurst had 10 points in the game to round out the quartet in double digits. The Huskies shot 50% (26-for-52) from the field, including five three-point shots. They also made good on 23 of 35 free throw attempts.
After a tied 19-19 first quarter, the Kings led 39-36 at the half. A 17-11 third quarter made it a 53-50 game in favour of the home side and a 27-11 fourth quarter put an emphatic finish on the win.
Eduardo Crespo's 20-point performance led the Kings. José Mauro Barrozo Júnior also finished in double digits with 14 points. Overall, the RDP Kings shot 29.8% (17-for-57) from the field, making three three-point shots. From the foul line, they made good on 24 of 30 free throw attempts.
