Lightning Impress In The Weekend's Biggest Game

In a highly anticipated showdown between the Keyano Huskies and the St. Mary's Lightning, all eyes were on the Lightning's gym in Glenmore Christian Academy for a clash of titans. This marquee matchup of the year pitted the top-ranked teams from their respective divisions, with Keyano holding the prestigious #3 spot in Canada and St. Mary's closely trailing at #7.

From the opening tip-off, it was evident that the Lightning were determined to assert their dominance. With a dazzling offensive display, they surged ahead, leaving the Huskies struggling to keep pace. The second quarter proved decisive as the Lightning orchestrated a breathtaking 30-9 run, firmly solidifying their control over the game.

Amidst the intense competition, the evening held a poignant moment as St. Mary's honored senior Johnpaul Okodua with a heartfelt ceremony before the game, adding an emotional layer to the electrifying atmosphere.

Despite commendable performances on his birthday from Omeechie Williams of the Huskies, who contributed 27 points. It was Caleb Jipps and Brock Dewsbery who led the charge for the Lightning, tallying 19 points and 7 steals and 24 points respectively.

As the final buzzer sounded, the Lightning emerged triumphant with a commanding 95-77 victory, clinching their first-ever 1st place finish in the South division, marking a historic milestone in their program's journey.
