Ooks Win At Home on Senior Night

On Saturday night, the NAIT Ooks played the Ambrose College Lions at the NAIT gymnasium. The Ooks celebrated their senior players, Griffin Lorenz and Yasser Abdullahi. 

Ooks started the game strong with great shooting from Yasser Abdullahi and Owen Weaver. However, the Lions shut them down quickly with their offensive plays and ball movement and led the game 24-22 after the first quarter. 

Going into the second quarter, the Ooks were behind, and the Lions continued to hold their lead, but the Ooks momentum had begun to shift, and Ooks managed to tie the score up early in the quarter. Ooks took the lead with an incredible drive from Owen Weaver. The game was close, but the Ooks managed to lead the game 45-40 going into halftime. 

The Ooks had effectively shut out the Lions and had begun to grow their lead with significant fast breaks from Kohl Wedman and Yasser Abdullahi. Lions struggled to generate both offensively and defensively.  Ooks led the game 62-54 after the third quarter. 

The Lions had come out strong in the fourth quarter and had gotten close to taking the lead; however, the Ooks refused to let it go and kept it with great moves from Nhiall Kuech, personally racking up seventeen points. Ooks won the game 82-69.
