The Keyano Huskies were more of their regular selves Saturday, downing the visiting Northestern Polytechnic Wolves 96-55 at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta.
Jumping out to a 13-0 lead to start the game, the Huskies led 31-10 after one quarter. The Wolves edged the Huskies 19-18 in the second quarter, but the game was put out of reach in the third quarter with a 30-17 frame followed by a 17-9 fourth quarter in favour of the Huskies.
A 22-point performance from Evan Meyer led the Huskies, who also received a 16-point effort from Omeechi Williams, 12 points from Keenan Miller, and 11 from Efosa Omorogbe to lead all players off either bench in the game.
The Wolves countered with 14 points from Daniel Zandbergen and 13 from Christian Liwanag as well as eight points each from Tony Kibonge and Kaden Gravengard.
From the field, the Huskies shot 55.1% (38-for-69), including 38.5% (10-for-26) from the three-point line. They also made10 of 13 free throws in the contest. The visiting Wolves shot 32.7% (17-for-52) from the field, making a trio of three-point shots in the game. They also made 18 of 23 attempted free throws in the match.
