Men's Basketball Huskies top Wolves on home court

Fort McMurray, Alta. (January 26, 2024) - Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves 56 Keyano Huskies 73

It wasn't the smoothest of games for the Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team, but the result was the same as they picked up another win on the home court at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. Friday night. Friday, their opponent was the Northestern Polytechnic Wolves, who went down to a 73-56 defeat at the hands of the top team in the ACAC's North Division. 

Evan Meyer led a trio of Huskies in double digits with 16 points, edging a 14-point effort by DJ Haynes and 11 points from Omeechi Williams. De'Andre Anderson and Duressa Essa contributed 15 of the Huskies' 19 points off the bench. 

Emmanuel IIoka led his visiting Wolves with 22 points, doubling up teammate Christian Liwanag, who had 11. 

The Huskies shot 48.4% from the field (30-for-62), including 38.5% (10-for-26) from beyond the arc. The Wolves shot 35.2% (19-for-54) from the field, making 26.35 (5-for-19) of their attempted three-point shots. They also made good on 13 of 18 free throws throughout the game. 

The two teams will face each other in a rematch Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
