Lightning Fall to Trojans in ACAC Gold Medal Rematch

(Calgary, AB) In a thrilling men's basketball rivalry, and ACAC Gold Medal rematch the St. Mary's Lightning faced off against the Sait Trojans in a matchup that had the gym packed from the beginning. Both teams showcased their skills and determination and the Lightning wanted redemption.

The game opened with the Trojans taking control, displaying impressive ball movement and shot after shot beyond the arc. However, the Lightning refused to back down, mounting a comeback in the fourth quarter and outscoring the Trojans 29 - 13. But it was not enough to overcome the early deficit that the Trojans forced on the Lightning.

Lightning's standout performer was Caleb Jipp, who led his team with 28 points, and 4 rebounds. Pelumi Ajayi also had an exceptional game, contributing 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. The Lightning managed to take control in the fourth, but it was too much to overcome, having them lose their second game this season.

Trojan's Marcus Masters has an impressive 31 points and 3 rebounds and led his team to victory. The Trojans's all around team play was too much for the Lightning to come back from. They managed to keep their lead and secure the victory over their rival. Leaving an all too familiar taste for the Lightning.

The game ended with the Trojans claiming a hard-fought victory against their longtime rival, while the Lightning showed promise with their determination in the fourth quarter of play. It was a thrilling game that left fans eager for the next one tomorrow. The One Team Sport Players of the game are #00 Marcus Masters, and #6 Ayudo Ayudo. Lightning returns to home court next weekend to take on the Red Deer Kings on Friday, January 26th at 8PM.
