Lightning Storm past Clippers

On January 13, the St. Mary's Lightning clashed with the Briercrest Clippers in a high-stakes basketball showdown that defied the freezing temperatures outside. With a bone-chilling wind chill factor below minus 40, the gym served as a warm haven for families celebrating the occasion of family day, creating a fun and lively atmosphere.

The Lightning electrified the court from the start, deploying a fast-paced offense that allowed them to storm into an early lead. By halftime, they commanded a commanding 60-37 advantage over the Clippers. Rookie sensation Noah Steingart emerged as the player of the game for the Lightning, showcasing his prowess with 14 points, an impressive 4-5 from beyond the arc. It marked a milestone in his career as he earned his first-ever player of the game accolade. On the Clippers' side, Francis Dogani displayed resilience, earning the player of the game honor with 13 points.

As the final buzzer sounded, the Lightning secured a convincing 113-89 victory, maintaining their stronghold at the top of the ACAC South standings. With a crucial matchup against second-placed SAIT looming on the horizon, the Lightning brace themselves for another intense battle as they strive to defend their first-place position in the upcoming weekend.
