Fort McMurray, Alta. (January 13, 2024) - NAIT Ooks 49 Keyano Huskies 80
The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team topped the NAIT Ooks 80-49 Saturday at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. to compete the weekend sweep.
A 23-11 first quarter in favour of the Huskies set the tone early, with the home side increasing their lead to 21 at the half. In the third quarter, the Huskies doubled up the Ooks by a 22-11 score before th Ooks narrowly edge the Huskies 16-15 in the final quarter.
Omeechi Williams was dialled in, sinking four of the team's nine three-point shots as part of a 24-point effort on his end. Nahshon Hurst's 17-point effort and 11-point efforts by Keenan Miller and Evan Meyer rounded out the quarter of players in double digits.
Amari Lessa Linklater led the Ooks with 10 points off the bench. Griffin Lorenz came with two points and two rebounds of a double-double from a starter role for the visiting Ooks.
The Huskies will now refocus to challenge the Lakeland Rustlers on the road while the Ooks prepare for a home-and-home series with the Augustana Vikings.
