Fort McMurray, Alta. (January 12, 2024) - NAIT Ooks 55 Keyano Huskies 87
The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team started 2024 off on the right foot with an 87-55 victory at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. Friday night.
After building an eight-point lead off a 23-15 first quarter, the Huskies increased their lead to double digits at the half with a 24-21 second quarter. Coming out of the half, the Huskies continued to pour on the pressure with a 23-13 third quarter. The Huskies then put the finishing touches on the game with a 17-6 fourth quarter.
De'Andre Anderson had 15 points and six rebounds off the bench to finish second in scoring to a 19-point perfromance by Omeechi Williams. DJ Haynes rounded out a trio in double digits with 12 points on the night. Evan Meyer came close to a double-double with 10 rebounds and eight points in the match.
On the visitors side of the ball, Yasser Abdullahi and Griffin Lorenz finished in double digits, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively.
Up next for the two teams is a rematch at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre on Saturday afternoon with tip-off at 3:00 p.m. on ACAC TV and Telus Optik 1998.
