Briercrest at SAIT

Calgary, Alberta – Friday, November 24, 2023: BC Clippers 97 at SAIT Trojans 89

The SAIT Trojans men's basketball team fell to 7-2 on the season on Friday night, losing to the now 6-2 BC Clippers 97-89.

SAIT fought hard all night, dealing with foul trouble and white-hot shooting from the Clippers, but couldn't quite mount the comeback in the fourth quarter, ultimately falling by eight.

Despite the loss, #0 Marcus Masters passed 1000 career points for the Trojans and now sits within 500 points of the school record. He led the way for SAIT with 24 points on the night to go along with five rebounds, an assist and three steals.

The Trojans forced eight turnovers in the first quarter and despite the Clippers shooting 4/7 from three in the initial ten minutes, led by two heading into the second.

BC stuck to their game plan the rest of the way, though, continuing to hit three after three and ended the game shooting an astounding 14/26 from deep, good for 53.8%. And while the Clippers weren't missing from long range, the Trojans struggled to keep up, shooting just 5/28 on the night.

SAIT battled for all 40 minutes, never losing a quarter by more than five. They just couldn't sustain a run to give them any lead late in the game and took some tough fouls in the final minutes when it looked like they might be coming back.

The Trojans will be looking for revenge tomorrow afternoon when the two teams face off again, hoping to contain the Clippers three-point shooting and get back in the win column before the break.
