Ooks Fall Short in OT against Lightning

On Friday night, the NAIT Ooks played St. Mary's University at the NAIT gymnasium

In the first quarter, Ooks took an early lead; however, the Lighting were close behind. Ooks offensive continued to generate great plays and gave the Ooks plenty of opportunities to capitalize on with great shots from number one Griffin Lorenz. However, the Ooks didn't hold the lead long the Lightnings' offensive outside shooting from number ten Jhonpaul Okodua took the lead for them.

Lighting led the game 18-17 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the game was neck and neck, with neither team able to hold the lead for long. However, the Lighting extended their lead with two huge, long-range three-pointers from number three Caleb Jipp. However, the Ooks momentum had shifted, and Ooks took the lead late in the quarter with great shots and drives from number four Gabriel Humilde.

Ooks led the game 47-40 after the second quarter.

In the third quarter, the Ooks continued to hold the lead with incredible shots from number 2 Antonio Benjamin. However, the Lightning wasn't out yet and slowly began to close the gap with great drives from number four Pelumi Ajayi. The Ooks defence was struggling to keep the Lightning at bay. However, the Ooks managed to hold their lead.

Ooks led the game 67-60 after the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Ooks struggled defensively against the Lightnings' offensive drives from number four Pelumi Ajayi. The game was neck and with both teams trading point for point. However, the Ooks finally took the lead with great drives from number eight Owen Weaver. However, the Lightning was able to tie the game up with fantastic shots from number three Caleb Jipp. 

After the fourth, the score was tied up 91-91, and the game was headed to overtime.

In the overtime, the Lighting took the lead early in the quarter, shutting down the Ooks offence and keeping them at bay nonetheless the Ooks still managed to tie up the score however, the Lighting kept the lead with great foul shooting and drives from number three Caleb Jipp.

 The Lightning won the game 105-101 over the Ooks
