SAIT Trojans defeats CUE Thunders

Calgary, AB – Saturday, Nov. 4: CUE Thunder 72 at SAIT Trojans 96

The SAIT Trojans men's basketball team extended their winning streak to four games on Saturday night, beating the CUE Thunder 96-72 at home.

Five Trojans ended up in double figures, as SAIT distributed the ball well and got everyone involved in the offence. #0 Marcus Masters and #24 Kuol Kuol both ended up with 20 points, the most on the team.

It was all SAIT in the first, as they played tight defence holding CUE to 5-14 shooting and just 10 points. #0 Marcus Master and #24 Kuol Kuol combined for 16 of their own, and by the end of the ten minutes the Trojans had a 21-10 lead.

The Thunder didn't go down without a fight, though, as they found their shooting touch in the second and put up 23 points. The Trojans didn't have a great shooting quarter, but they forced five turnovers to help them get to 20 points in the second. They would go to half with a 41-33 lead.

The third was SAIT's turn to shoot lights out, as they put up a whopping 31 points in the quarter on 11-20 shooting. They added five threes on 9 attempts. Four Trojans ended up with at least five points in the quarter, and #2 Will Tong led the way with nine.

The bench stepped up in the fourth, as #5 Jaden Matthews contributed eight points and #6 Amon Walker gave the Trojans six. SAIT again shot 50% in the frame, and cruised to a 96-72 victory.

The 4-1 Trojans will face off against the 0-4 OC Broncos next Saturday at SAIT, looking to keep their winning streak alive.

The CUE Thunder will take on RDP two weeks from now at home.
