Trojans defeat the Eagles

Calgary, AB – Friday, November 3, 2023: TKU Eagles 70 at SAIT Trojans 105

The SAIT Trojans men's basketball team beat the TKU Eagles handedly on Friday, winning by a score of 105-70. With the victory, the Trojans improved to 3-1 on the year, and they have now won three in a row. TKU sits at 0-5 after the loss.

SAIT dominated the first quarter, jumping out to an early 26-11 lead. #0 Marcus Masters and #24 Kuol Kuol led the charge, scoring a combined 15 points on 5-11 shooting with three threes. The Trojans forced a whopping nine turnovers in the quarter.

The second was much tighter, as SAIT only outscored TKU 23-18. #24 Kuol Kuol continued to dominate, though, shooting 3-5 for six points in the quarter. Going into halftime, SAIT led 49-29.

The Trojans came out flying again after the break, putting up 31 points in the third quarter, their most of any quarter in the game. #0 Marcus Master, #4 James Owolabi and #8 Tutu Akol torched TKU, shooting a combined 10-14 and giving SAIT 25 points. TKU also scored their most points of any quarter, 22, but it didn't matter as the Trojans extended their lead to 29 heading into the fourth.

It was a balanced scoring effort in the final quarter for SAIT, and they played lockdown defence to win the quarter 25-19 and the game 105-70.

The Trojans will look for their fourth straight win at home again tomorrow versus the CUE Thunder, who are first in their conference with a record of 4-3. TKU will look for their first win, also tomorrow, at STMU.
