Burgess Comes Back to Bite Rattlers

In front of an at capacity crowd of just under 400 people, the Rattlers Men's Basketball played host to the Ambrose Lions and former Rattler all-star Kieron Burgress in the season opener. The Lions came out on fire almost missing nothing at the early stages of the game. The Rattlers battled back throughout the 2nd half of the first quarter to end the quarter down 6. The second quarter was dominated by the Rattlers outscoring the Lions by 14 led by Fred Kabore who had 7 points off the bench as the Rattlers would go into the half with an 8 point lead of their own.

However the 2nd half was not kind for the home squad as they fell off as the Lions kept up the pace and ultimately led to a 90-83 victory. The Lions were led by Kieron Burgess as he put in 27 points and a staggering 19 rebounds in the win against his old team. Mateja Vukic also chipped in with 19 points. Fred Kabore was the highest scorer for the Rattlers coming in with 18 points. Junior Luyeye added 17 points and 7 assists in the loss.

The Tiki Press Player of the game for the Rattlers was Fred Kabore and for the Lions was Keiron Burgess. With the win the Lions get their first victory of the season moving to 1-0. The Rattler fall to 0-1 on the season. Next up for the Rattlers is a date with the St. Mary's Lightning at home on Friday before the rematch in Calgary on Saturday while the Lions tangle with the Kodiaks on Friday & Saturday.
