2023 Golf Schedule Released

EDMONTON, AB - The 2023 regionals are set, and the championship is finalized.

The North Regional for the golf season will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10 at the Jagare Ridge Golf Course, hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton. Following this, the South Regional will take place on September 17-18 at the Desert Blume Golf Course, hosted by the Medicine Hat Rattlers. Both regionals will bring together top golfers from respective regions to compete for qualification to the upcoming championship.

The pinnacle of the golf season, the 2023 ACAC Golf Championship, will be held at the Alberta Springs Golf Resort on September 22-24. This championship will feature participants from both the North and South regions, as they compete against each other to claim the coveted title. The tournament is set to provide a thrilling display of talent, sportsmanship, and fierce competition as golfers strive to etch their names in the history of ACAC golf.


NORTH REGIONAL:

The Concordia University of Edmonton is set to host the North Regional, marking the official start of the 2023 ACAC Golf Season. The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10 at the prestigious Jagare Ridge Golf Course. 

Concordia had a remarkable 2022 season, with notable achievements including Coach of the Year honors awarded to Larry Petryk and Ella Gifford being named the Women's Golfer of the Year in the ACAC. Larry and Ella carried their impressive performances from the ACAC season to the 2022 CCAA Golf Championship. Ella secured a remarkable top ten finish in the women's individual stroke play, showcasing her exceptional skills. Furthermore, Larry's outstanding coaching abilities were acknowledged as he received the esteemed title of CCAA Golf Coach of the Year.


SOUTH REGIONAL:

Following the North Regional, the spotlight will shift to the South Regionals, which will be hosted by the Medicine Hat Rattlers on September 17-18 at the Desert Blume Golf Course.

Last year, the SAIT Trojans dominated the golf season, leaving a lasting mark on the sport. Brodie Shields-Tyler was crowned the ACAC Men’s Golfer of the Year, while Regan Colberg and Kristine Dixon both received Rookie of the Year honors for their outstanding performances. The Southern region had a strong presence in the All-Conference awards, with several talented golfers from SAIT, Medicine Hat, and Concordia receiving recognition. At the 2022 CCAA Golf Championship, SAIT's Jake Magee was honored with the Men’s Exemplary Leadership award, further solidifying SAIT’s exceptional golf program.


CHAMPIONSHIP:

As the golfers transition to the highly anticipated 2023 ACAC Golf Championship, they will face the challenge at the esteemed Alberta Springs Golf Resort. ACAC Golf members are joining forces to host this championship, promising an unforgettable event on September 22-24, 2023.

In the previous edition of the championship, Brodie Shields-Tyler of the SAIT Trojans claimed the coveted title of the 2022 ACAC Men’s Golf Champion, finishing an impressive four shots under par. The Medicine Hat Rattlers' Chase Broderson and Colby Friedrich secured the silver and bronze medals respectively, leading their team to victory in the 2022 ACAC Men’s Golf Team Championship. On the women's side, Concordia's Ella Gifford emerged triumphant, earning the gold medal in the women's individual event. SAIT's Kristine Dixon claimed the silver medal, while Libby Bourassa from Medicine Hat clinched the bronze. The Trojans women’s team celebrated their victory as they secured the team banner. The mixed team event was fiercely competitive, with Medicine Hat narrowly edging out the Trojans by three strokes to capture the banner, leaving SAIT with the silver medal and Concordia rounding out the top three.


Adding to the excitement this golf season will feature the inaugural participation of NAIT’s newly established golf program.The Ooks re-entry into the golf season promises to be a thrilling display of talent, sportsmanship and fierce competition amongst all golf members.

Golfers from the ACAC are eagerly preparing to come together on the links, ready to showcase their skills and compete for glory.
