ACAC Curling Winter Regional - Day 2

Edmonton, AB - January 20, 2024 - The first of four slates of games kicked off bright and early Saturday at 9 AM.

 

The men's action for the day started with both Lakeland and SAIT coming away with narrow victories. In the second set of games, NAIT and Concordia continued both of their hot starts from Friday in their first games of the day, moving them both to 3-0. The third and final slate of games for the day saw SAIT come away with a victory over Red Deer. In a battle between a pair of 3-0 teams, NAIT beat Concordia moving them to 4-0 and dropping Concordia to 3-1.

 

The women's action saw a pair of easy wins for both Augustana and Red Deer. SAIT was also able to walk away with a victory due to NAIT not having enough players able to play. In the second set of games, Concordia was able to continue their winning ways from Friday. SAIT was also able to pick up their second victory of the day. Portage beat NAIT due to NAIT again not having enough players available to play. In the final slate of games for the day, both SAIT and Concordia were able to secure a win giving both of them 4 wins for the weekend so far. Lakeland was also able to pick in their final game of the day.

 

The mixed action saw both NAIT and Red Deer handle their opening matches of the day with ease. In the second set of games, Red Deer was able to beat SAIT for their second win of the day. Lakeland also picked up a close 8-6 victory over NAIT. In the third slate of games, SAIt was able to be Concordia in a close 7-5 game. Red Deer was also able to win a close game against Lakeland. In the final games of the day, Red Deer picked up another impressive win over NAIT moving them to 6-0 on the weekend. In a very close game, Lakeland was able to edge out Concordia 10-9 ending day 2 on a high note.
