ACAC Winter Curling Regional - Day 1

Edmonton, AB (January 19, 2024) - The second Curling Regional of the season started today at the Thistle Curling Club in Edmonton with seven schools starting games that will commence over the next three days. Friday's action saw most of the teams competing in two games.

The first draw saw the men's division have three fairly easy wins for Concordia, Red Deer, and NAIT. The second draw of the day saw NAIT narrowly defeat Red Deer by a score of 5-4 for their second victory. Concordia continued to roll as well with their second victory of the day.

The women's division also had three games occurring in the first draw. While Concordia and Red Deer both could cruise to victories, SAIT was in a much closer match with Augustana. The SAIT women were able to come away with a narrow 5-4 victory. The day's second draw saw Concordia and Lakeland cruise to big wins. The match between Red Deer and Augustana was very close and competitive. Red Deer was able to come away with a 7-5 win for their second victory of the day.

The mixed division saw four out of the five teams continue to play from the first regional back in late November. The team from NAIT was able to score a single in the end to break the tie with Concordia, topping them by a score of 8-7. The second game saw Red Deer beat SAIT. The second draw of the day saw both Lakeland and SAIT come away with 7-4 victories.
