ACAC Curling Fall Regional
Lloydminster, AB - The first Curling Regional of the season is in the books with ACAC curlers competing in several games over the weekend.
Coming out on top on the Women's side after 6 games was Red Deer Polytechnic with a perfect 6 and 0 record. Concordia and Augustana also had great weekends finishing with 4 and 2 records.
The men's division appeared to be the closest of the three with Red Deer and NAIT wrapping up the 5-game weekend with 4 and 1 records. Teams had to fight for each point and a missed shot here and there sometimes was the difference.
In the mixed division, most teams played a draw and a half and Red Deer finished the weekend with a perfect 6 and 0 record followed by Lakeland at 4 and 2 and SAIT at 3 and 2.
With each team playing at least five games and some competing in six over the weekend, teams were given a great opportunity to gel and improve as individuals and a team. NAIT will host the next regional in Edmonton from January 19 – 21, 2024. The top four teams after both regionals will move on to the ACAC Championships hosted by SAIT in Airdrie February 23 – 25.
If the level of competition at the first regional was any indication the second weekend of competition will be exciting.
