ACAC Badminton Championship Day Two Recap

The excitement continued at the NAIT Gym on day two of the ACAC Badminton Championship, featuring intense individual events that determined the medalists and those heading to the nationals.

Mixed-Doubles

In the semifinals, Mahdi Ahmadi & Khushi Vaniya of TKU dominated Greg Friske and Noel Do of NAIT with a score of 21-6, 21-8. Davis Wong & Manasi Pandit of NAIT secured their spot in the finals by defeating Jonathan Su & Jasleen Kaur of CUE with scores of 21-19 and 21-18.

In the finals, Mahdi Ahmadi & Khushi Vaniya of TKU secured the gold medal by defeating Davis Wong & Manasi Pandit from NAIT. The match ended with a 21-18 and 21-14 score. Jonathan Su & Jasleen Kaur of CUE claimed bronze by overcoming Owen Ching and Ziyu Kong of SAIT in a thrilling match that concluded 21-14, 14-21, 26-24.

Women's Doubles

In the semifinals, TKU's Abby Ledda & Cecilia Wolski triumphed over CUE's Jennifer Szukala & Emma Tran with a commanding 21-2, 21-4. SAIT's Taylor Burton & Ziyu Kong secured their spot in the finals by defeating Astrea Nada Borromeo & Alia Quesnelle from SAIT with a score of 21-14, 21-8. In the finals, Abby Ledda & Cecilia Wolski of TKU claimed the gold medal by defeating Taylor Burton & Ziyu Kong, while SAIT's Astrea Nada Borromeo & Alia Quesnelle secured bronze against CUE's Jennifer Szukala & Emma Tran.

Men's Doubles

In the semifinals, Jason Chiu and Paul Ouano of SAIT defeated Sanskar Chopra & Gurmanjot Singh from SAIT with scores of 21-14 and 21-15. Greg Friske & Anirudh Sharma of NAIT emerged victorious against Jonathan Ko & Raphael Motel of CUE with an exciting 17-21, 21-9, 21-18. In the finals, Jason Chiu and Paul Ouano of SAIT claimed the gold medal by defeating Greg Friske & Anirudh Sharma of NAIT with scores of 21-19 and 21-8. Jonathan Ko & Raphael Motel of CUE secured the bronze medal against Sanskar Chopra & Gurmanjot Singh of SAIT with scores of 12-19 and 21-12.

Women's Singles

In the semifinals, Jasleen Kaur of CUE dominated Alia Quesnelle from SAIT with a score of 21-5, 21-5, advancing to the gold medal game. Noel Do of NAIT secured her spot in the gold medal game by defeating Emma Tran from CUE in a thrilling three-set match.

In the finals, Jasleen Kaur of CUE claimed the ACAC Gold by defeating Noel Do of NAIT, who took home the ACAC Silver. Alia Quesnelle from SAIT played Emma Tran from CUE for the bronze medal. Tran won the ACAC bronze medal. 

Men's Singles

In the semifinals, Eason Wong from SAIT secured a spot in the gold medal match by defeating Sanskar Chopra from SAIT. Smit Patel of NAIT also advanced to the gold medal game by defeating Raphael Motel of CUE.

In the finals, Eason Wong won the ACAC Gold by defeating Smit Patel in two sets. Sanskar Chopra from SAIT secured the ACAC Bronze by defeating Raphael Motel of CUE.
