ACAC Badminton Tournament #3

EDMONTON, AB – The King's University (TKU) Eagles hosted the third and final regular season ACAC Badminton tournament of the year. This tournament featured players from King's, Concordia, SAIT, and NAIT competing for the top spots in Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

Women's Singles

On the women's singles bracket, Jasleen Kaur (CUE) was dominant all day and came out on top, claiming first place. TKU's Cecilia Wolski claimed 2nd place and Khushi Vaniya (TKU) took 3rd place after NAIT's Noel Do.

Men's Singles

On the men's side, SAIT's Eason Wong took 1st place after defeating TKU's Mahdi Ahmadi in the gold medal match. Third place was taken by Smit Patel from NAIT, over NAIT's Anirudh Sharma who finished in 4th place.

Women's Doubles

Women's doubles saw 4 teams compete in a round-robin tournament, with TKU (Ledda/Wolski) taking the win with a clean 3-0 record. Second place went to NAIT's Pandit/Tran who went 2-1, SAIT's Burton and Kong took 3rd place with a 1-2 record and Navarro and Osorio took 4th Place with an 0-3 record.

Men's Doubles

Men's Doubles saw 7 teams battle it out for the podium, with SAIT's Wong & Ouano taking the top position over NAIT's Patel & Wong. Third place was captured by CUE's Motel & Su, after beating NAIT's Friske & Sharma.

Mixed Doubles

And finally, in the mixed doubles tournament, 11 teams took to the courts, with TKU's Ahmadi & Vaniya taking the victory. NAIT's Wong & Pandit took the silver medal and CUE's team Su & Kaur beat TKU's Olson & Ledda for bronze.

The next matchup amongst these instructions will be the ACAC Badminton Championship tournament, hosted by NAIT on Saturday, February 17th, 2024.
