ACAC Badminton Tournament #3 Recap

The King's University Eagles hosted the third ACAC badminton tournament on February 5. The participating institutions were the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Trojans, the King's University (TKU) Eagles, the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder and the NAIT Ooks.

The day began with Men's and Women's singles. In the Men's Singles, we saw Eagles' Narayan Ramdhani take home first place, winning straight twos (in two sets) along the way, defeating Sanskar Chopra (SAIT). Eagles' own Anthony Olson played in the third-place match, taking the win over Davis Wong from NAIT.

Men's Singles

  4. Davis Wong (NAIT)

Johnna Rymes (CUE) took home first place in the Women's singles after Jasleen Kaur (CUE) in the finals. TKU Eagles' Cecilia Wolski finished in third place defeating Taylor Burton from SAIT.

Following the singles matches, the doubles matches started in the afternoon. NAIT Ooks' Anirudh Sharma & Davis Wong beat out Jason Chiu & Sanskar Chopra (SAIT) in the finals. 

Men's Doubles

  2. Jason Chiu & Sanskar Chopra (SAIT)
  3. Emmanuel Duguay & Anthony Olsen (TKU)
  4. Brandon Gendre & Nam Nguyen (NAIT)

Jasleen Kaur and Johnna Rymes (CUE) finished in first place in Women's Doubles after competing against TKU Eagles' Cecilia Wolski and Abby Ledda. The NAIT Ooks' Ivy Ung and Sylvie Bibeau took home third after playing Taylor Burton and Carmen Wong(SAIT).

Women's Doubles

The mixed doubles teams came onto the court at the end of the day. Eagles' Narayan Ramdhani and Abby Ledda (TKU) took home first after competing against Anirudh Sharma and Ivy Ung (NAIT). Jason Chiu & Carmen Wong (NAIT) won third place after winning against Nam Nguyen & Sylvie Bibeau (NAIT).

Mixed Doubles

Concordia University of Edmonton will host ACAC Badminton Championships February 18-19.
