ACAC Hall of Fame Athlete Inductee: Robbie Valpreda

HONOURED ATHLETE INDUCTEE

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Robbie Valpreda of the MacEwan Griffins as a 2024 inductee into the ACAC Hall of Fame in the Athlete category.

Valpreda was the most dominant player in MacEwan Griffins men’s basketball history, amassing a program-best 1,414 points and 752 rebounds in just three ACAC seasons, career marks that still stand the test of time.

Among his numerous accolades, Valpreda is one of only three MacEwan athletes to claim a CCAA Player of the Year award (2000-01). He was twice honored as a CCAA All Canadian and CCAA tournament all-star (2000-01 and 2004-05), underscoring his consistent excellence on the court.

Valpreda's leadership propelled the Griffins to two CCAA medals during his tenure—silver in 2004-05 and bronze in 2000-01—elevating the team's stature in national competition.

Under his guidance, the Griffins achieved an impressive 60-12 combined record in the ACAC regular season, clinching two conference championships (2000-01 and 2004-05). His stellar performance earned him recognition on the ACAC first all-star team twice (2000-01 and 2004-05) and as an ACAC second team all-star in his rookie college season in 1999-00.

Beyond his individual achievements, Valpreda's impact extended beyond the court. He was honored with MacEwan’s Male Athlete of the Year award across all sports in 2004-05, highlighting his significance within the athletic community.

Currently, Valpreda continues to enrich the ACAC basketball landscape as the coach of the Concordia Thunder women’s basketball team, perpetuating his legacy of excellence and mentorship within the sport.

Robbie Valpreda's induction into the ACAC Hall of Fame underscores his enduring contributions to collegiate athletics and his ongoing dedication to shaping the future of basketball in the ACAC.
