ACAC Hall of Fame Athlete Inductee: Rae Sigurdson

HONOURED ATHLETE INDUCTEE

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Rae Sigurdson of Lakeland College Rustlers as a 2024 inductee into the ACAC Hall of Fame in the Athlete category.

Rae Sigurdson's journey through the ranks of Lakeland College's Women’s Volleyball program is nothing short of extraordinary. From her early days as a student-athlete to her role as an Assistant Coach, Rae's impact on the court and in the community is truly remarkable.

Academic Achievements:

During her time at Lakeland College, Rae not only excelled on the volleyball court but also in the classroom. She completed a Business Diploma with Honours and collaborated on a Bachelor of Science degree from Lakeland College and Athabasca University, earning distinctions in both programs.

Athletic Accomplishments:

Rae's talents as a volleyball player is evidenced by a plethora of awards and accolades, including:

  • ACAC Player of the Year (2018-2019)
  • CCAA All Canadian (2017-2018, 2018-2019)
  • ACAC All Conference (2014-2015, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019)
  • Rustlers Women’s Volleyball MVP (2017-2018, 2018-2019)
  • Rustlers Female Athlete of the Year (2017-2018, 2018-2019)
  • Rustlers Women’s Volleyball Assists Leader
  • 2nd in Career Assists (ACAC)

Community Involvement:

Beyond the court, Rae's dedication extended to her community through various roles:

  • Peer tutor
  • Club Volleyball Coach
  • Camp coach
  • Volunteer at Lloydminster Continuing Care Home
  • Volunteer Server at LC Presidents Gala
  • Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach

Congratulations, Rae Sigurdson, on your induction into the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Hall of Fame. Your outstanding contributions to Lakeland College's Women’s Volleyball program and your exemplary achievements both on and off the court serve as an inspiration to all.
