ACAC Hall of Fame Athlete Inductee: Brody Hilland

HONOURED ATHLETE INDUCTEE

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is thrilled to announce Brody Hilland of the Mount Royal College as a 2024 inductee into the ACAC Hall of Fame in the Athlete category.

In the history of Mount Royal University (formerly Mount Royal College) athletics, few individuals have left as lasting an impression as Brody. Throughout four exceptional seasons spanning from 2002 to 2006, Brody's presence on the badminton court was characterized with unmatched skill, determination, and exemplary sportsmanship. Brody's journey through Mount Royal's badminton program was nothing short of extraordinary, marked by a string of remarkable achievements that underscored his expertise and dedication to the sport.

Awards/Distinctions/Records/Accomplishments:

  • ACAC Champion in men's doubles (2002-03, 2003-04), singles (2004-05), and mixed doubles (2005-06)
  • ACAC Team Champion (2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05)
  • All-Conference Team selection for four consecutive seasons (2002-03 to 2005-06)
  • Two-time recipient of ACAC Athlete of the Week
  • CCAA Champion in men's doubles (2003, 2004) and singles (2005)
  • CCAA Player of the Year (2003-04, 2005-06)
  • Two-time Academic All Canadian (2003-04, 2005-06)

Beyond the accolades, Brody's impact extended far beyond the court. A beacon of leadership and mentorship, he inspired and uplifted his teammates, imparting invaluable lessons in resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Legacy & Beyond:

Brody was an exceptional student-athlete for Mount Royal, showcasing outstanding representation at every level of competition, whether in the ACAC or CCAA. His athletic achievements speak for themselves and are verified by those who had the privilege of knowing him, playing with him, or competing against him.

As a fierce competitor, Brody not only excelled on the court but also served as a role model for younger student-athletes. Through his actions and accomplishments in both the classroom and on the court, he imparted invaluable lessons on how to navigate the pressures of balancing academics and athletics with grace and determination.

Congratulations on entering the ACAC Hall of Fame athlete category, Brody. Your exceptional achievements and contributions to Mount Royal University's athletic legacy are truly deserving of this prestigious honor.
