ACAC Hall of Fame Coach Inductee: Keith Hansen

HONOURED COACH INDUCTEE

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is thrilled to announce Keith Hansen of the Red Deer Kings as a 2024 inductee into the ACAC Hall of Fame in the Coach category.

Having dedicated himself to the sport of Men’s Volleyball at Red Deer Polytechnic, Keith's coaching journey spans several noteworthy chapters. Beginning in 1994, he led the Kings to unparalleled success, clinching an impressive six ACAC Coach of the Year awards and two CCAA Coach of the Year awards. Under his guidance, the Kings secured a remarkable nine CCAA National Championships, solidifying their status as a dominant force in collegiate volleyball.

Beyond the court, Keith's influence reached the broader athletic community, earning him induction into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2016 and the ACAC Hall of Fame in 2017 under the Team Category. His coaching legacy is marked by a remarkable eight-year National Championship streak, during which the Kings maintained an outstanding 89-9 record in league play.

Keith's commitment to excellence extends to his tenure as the Athletic Director at Red Deer Polytechnic from 2007 to 2016. His impact is not confined to the volleyball arena, as evidenced by his involvement in community initiatives, including contributions to the Domestic Development Committee for Volleyball Canada, the City of Red Deer Sport Awards committee, and serving as Vice President of the Alberta Sport Development Center (ASDC). Keith Hansen's multifaceted contributions to both the sport and the community make him a deserving addition to the esteemed ACAC Hall of Fame.

As he steps into the ACAC Hall of Fame, his impact reverberates not only through the accolades and championships but also through the lives he has touched, shaping athletes into champions on and off the court.
