Edmonton, AB (April 5, 2024) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Makenna Fitzgerald of the SAIT Trojans as the 2023-2024 ACAC Female Athlete of the Year.

Makenna Fitzgerald, a force to be reckoned with in the world of cross-country running, has clinched the ACAC Athlete of the Year title with her outstanding performances. Her journey to this award began with a remarkable victory at the ACAC cross-country championships, where she not only secured the gold medal, but also shattered the ACAC record time, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 21:43.

Undeterred by her initial success, Makenna continued to push boundaries and set new standards in the sport. Her remarkable achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes everywhere, showcasing the power of hard work, perseverance, and a passion for excellence.

Makenna’s successes go beyond that of the race track, as she is an outstanding student who has consistently maintained a 4.0 GPA, earning her Academic All-Canadian Honours every year of competition.
