2024 ACAC Women's Hockey Rookie of the Year

Edmonton, AB (March 14, 2024) – 

Female Rookie of the Year | Keyra Buziak | Lakeland Rustlers:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Keyra Buziak of the Lakeland College Rustlers has been selected as the 2023-24 ACAC Women’s Hockey Rookie of the Year.

Keyra was a highly sought after recruit for the Rustlers as they headed into their second season in the ACAC. Buziak had a great rookie season playing defense for the Rustlers and lead all ACAC defensemen in points with 23.

Buziak’s play helped the Rustlers to and 21 and 4 record good enough for first place in the ACAC Women’s Hockey division and a playoff first round win to play for ACAC Gold.

“Keyra has had an impressive first year in the ACAC. She has high end skill as well as a strong understanding of the game.” stated head coach Morgan Mann. “Her skill set, and knowledge of the game allow her to play any position on the ice and in all situations.”

Buziak is in her first year at Lakeland College, currently enrolled in Crop Technology program and hails from North Battleford, SK. Congratulations on a fantastic 2023-2024 season.

This prestigious award will be recognized at game three of the 2024 ACAC Women’s Hockey Championship hosted by Lakeland Rustlers in Lloydminster, Alberta.
