2024 ACAC Women's Futsal Rookies of the Year

Edmonton, AB (March 9, 2024) – 

North Female Rookie of the Year | Sasha Pietramala | NAIT Ooks:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Sasha Pietramala of the NAIT Ooks has been selected as the 2023-24 ACAC North Women’s Futsal Rookie of the Year.

In her debut season in the ACAC futsal league, Sasha Pietramala showcased her exceptional skills with a remarkable tally of 7 goals. Not only does she dominate in offense, but her defensive prowess is equally impressive, leading the team in blocked shots. A true game-changer and a commanding presence on the court, Sasha's impact goes beyond the scoreboard. As one of the team's assistant captains, her leadership and dedication have undoubtedly set the standard for excellence.

"WOW, I couldn't be more proud of her accomplishment in being named Rookie of the Year. It's a testament to her dedication, hard work, and exceptional talent. Sasha has demonstrated great qualities both on and off the field, and it's truly special to see her efforts recognized by the other programs." said head coach Dhee Govender. Sasha is the team's leading goalscorer with seven goals, leads the team with blocked shots, and was named assistant captain for our team this season.

This award is a reflection of Sasha's commitment to excellence and her ability to make an immediate impact. She has shown great promise and potential, and I have no doubt that she will continue to excel and achieve even greater success in the future," said Head Coach Dhee Govender.

The first-year Business Administration student from Edmonton, Alberta, will be a force for the team as they hit the court for the ACAC Championship.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Women’s Futsal Championship hosted by Portage College in Lac la Biche, Alberta.


South Female Rookie of the Year | Abby Lalach | Medicine Hat Rattlers:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Abby Lalach of the Medicine Hat College (MHC) Rattlers has been selected as the 2023-24 ACAC Women’s Futsal South Division Rookie of the Year. 

Lalach joined the Rattlers soccer and futsal program in Fall 2023, securing the starting goalkeeper position. Described as a first year athlete who plays with the confidence of a veteran, Lalach made many timely, big saves that contributed to the team’s success throughout the season.

“Abby is a strong goalkeeper, and the Rattlers are looking forward to having her continue with the soccer and futsal programs,” says Terry Ballard, manager of athletics and recreation at MHC. “We congratulate Abby on being named Rookie of the Year.”

Lalach is a first year education student from Cranbrook, BC.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Women’s Futsal Championship hosted by Portage College in Lac la Biche, Alberta.
