2024 ACAC Men's Futsal Coaches of the Year

Edmonton, AB (March 9, 2024) – 

North Male Coach of the Year | Niels Slotboom | Keyano Huskies:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Niels Slotboom of the Keyano College Huskies has been named the ACAC Men’s Futsal North Division Coach of the Year.

During the 2024 ACAC Futsal season, Slotboom led his squad to a 10-0-0 record as they topped the North Division standings. Their record was aided by a +19 goal differential across the regular season that featured a pair of clean sheets and two games where they held their opponents to a single goal.

In his third season of coaching with the Soccer and Futsal Huskies, Slotboom has brought the Huskies back to the top of the ACAC. The Huskies are the defending ACAC Champions in Men’s Futsal and Men’s Soccer at the same time for the first time since the 2018-19 outdoor season. To date, the Keyano Huskies Men’s Soccer/Futsal program has captured 11 ACAC Championships.

"I am thrilled to extend my sincerest congratulations to Coach Slotboom, whose exceptional leadership and dedication have earned him the well-deserved title of the 2024 ACAC Men's Futsal North Coach of the Year.” Jonathan Lambert, Director of Athletics & Recreation at Keyano College, said. “Neils' unwavering commitment to his team's success and his passion for the sport of futsal serve as an inspiration to Keyano College as well as the ACAC.

“This prestigious accolade is a testament to his outstanding coaching prowess and the positive impact he has had on the student athletes in his program both on and off the floor. We are incredibly proud to have Neils as a member of our coaching staff, and we look forward to witnessing his continued success in the future."

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2023 ACAC Men’s Futsal Championship hosted by Portage College in Lac La Biche, AB.


South Male Coach of the Year | Adam Monkman | Ambrose Lions:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Adam Monkman of the Ambrose University Lions has been named the ACAC Men’s Futsal South Coach of the Year.

Adam has been coaching at Ambrose University with the Lions since 2017 in both Outdoor Soccer and Indoor Futsal. He has been steadily building the program to where it is today and his Men’s team is as strong as it has ever been. This year his Men’s Futsal squad had a 4-4-2 record, good for 14 points and 3rd place in the ACAC South Division. A couple of highlights of their season were their tightly contested home games vs. the cross town rivals, the SAIT Trojans, and of course, qualifying for the ACAC Championship tourney.

Ambrose Athletic Director Colin Kubinec says this about Head Coach Adam Monkman: “I am so grateful for this well-deserved award for Adam and very proud of what he is building with his Men’s Squad. Adam is a perpetual learner, always growing and getting better, humble, deeply caring for his student athletes, and builds into them on and off the pitch. A stand-up guy and a class-act coach who coaches in line with his values and faith, Ambrose University is very proud of this recognition for their Men’s Futsal Bench Boss.”
