2024 ACAC Men's Volleyball Rookies of the Year

Edmonton, AB (February 21, 2024) – 

North Male Rookie of the Year | Rafael Parada | Keyano Huskies:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Rafael Parada of the Keyano College Huskies has been selected as the 2023-24 ACAC Men’s Volleyball North Division Rookie of the Year.  

Parada took the conference by storm in his inaugural regular season, recording 202 kills, 103 digs, 40 aces, and 22 blocks. His hitting percentage of .453 and 0.58 service aces per set led the North Division and were second in the entire conference. Within the Huskies, Parada led the team in aces while also placing second in total kills and digs. He also ranked third in blocks.  

“Rafael joined us a little bit later and it was kind of a quick whirlwind of experience for him,” Men’s Volleyball Huskies Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. “The kid had a fantastic year. I couldn’t ask for a better international rookie."

“He came in and he was a true professional from day one. I’m really happy with everything that he’s done to move this program in the right direction.” 

A product of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Paradas‘s win marks the third ACAC North Division Rookie of the Year Award for the Men’s Volleyball Huskies after wins by João Cunha (2019-20) and Jakub Zdybek (2016-17). 

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship hosted by Olds College in Olds, AB. The Rookie of the Year award is proudly sponsored by Alberta Volleyball.


South Male Rookie of the Year | Kohlbe Anderson | Lethbridge Kodiaks:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Kohlbe Anderson of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks has been selected as the 2023-24 ACAC Men’s Volleyball South division Rookie of the Year. 

“Kodiaks MVB is thrilled to recognize Kohlbe Anderson”, says head coach Greg Gibos. “Being a first year middle in the ACAC is incredibly difficult and he has accumulated 103 kills, and is 15th in the league in total blocks. He’s been an incredible addition to our program.” 

“What an amazing achievement for Kohlbe to earn” says Todd Caughlin, Kodiaks Athletics Director. “The learning curve for Kohlbe coming in as a rookie was steep and he stepped up to the challenge!”

Anderson is from Claymont, Delaware, USA. He is enrolled in his first year of the Business Management program.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship hosted by Olds College in Olds, Alberta. The Rookie of the Year award is proudly sponsored by Alberta Volleyball.
