2024 ACAC Men's Volleyball Coaches of the Year

Edmonton, AB (February 21, 2024) – 

North Male Coach of the Year | Taylor Dyer | Lakeland Rustlers:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Taylor Dyer of the Lakeland Rustlers has been named the ACAC 2023-2024 Men’s Volleyball North Coach of the Year.

Dyer is a NCCP Performance coach and holds an education degree. This was the fourth consecutive season that Dyer has led the Rustlers into the ACAC Championships. Lakeland finished the regular season with a 13 and 6 record and spent several weeks ranked in the top 15 in the Country. This is the second time Dyer has received the ACAC Coach of the Year award.

“Taylor has built a strong culture of success with the men’s volleyball program that is now sustaining from year to year,” commented Alan Rogan, Lakeland’s athletic director. “He constantly challenges each member of the team to excel in all aspects of being a student athlete.”

Dyer also oversees the Rustlers club volleyball program that affords volleyball experiences to over 250 youth in Lloydminster and surrounding communities annually.


This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship hosted by Olds College from February 22-24.


South Male Coach of the Year | Aaron Schulha | Red Deer Kings:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Aaron Schulha of the Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings has been named the ACAC 2023-2024 Men’s Volleyball South Coach of the Year.

“Aaron is very deserving of this award. He is dedicated to helping his student-athletes succeed in the classroom, on the court and in the community,” says Randy Stewart, Manager, Athletics and Student Life at Red Deer Polytechnic. “Through Aaron’s leadership and expertise, the RDP Kings Volleyball program continues to grow its legacy of excellence across the province and nation.”

Once again, Schulha has led the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings to another outstanding record in 2023/2024. The RDP Kings Volleyball team (16-3) finished first in the ACAC South Division and qualified for the playoffs.

Schulha has been an integral component of the Kings Volleyball program’s success as both a former RDP student-athlete and current head coach. As one of the premier coaches in the league, Schulha has led the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings to eleven ACAC medals (six gold, four silver and one bronze) and six Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) medals (three gold, two silver and one bronze).

Schulha has been acknowledged as ACAC Coach of the Year three previous times. He was recognized as a CCAA Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year and also received the CCAA Coaching Excellence Award across all sports.

As a student-athlete, Schulha helped the RDP Kings Volleyball team win three consecutive CCAA National Championships before joining the University of Alberta Golden Bears. At the U of A, he earned a U Sports Championship and silver medal. In the summer of 2005, Schulha competed at the World University Games in Turkey as a member of the Canadian National Team.

In its history, Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball has won 13 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National gold medals, which is the most in the league. The Kings have also won an astounding 20 ACAC Championships.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship hosted by Olds College from February 22-24.
