2024 ACAC Badminton Rookies of the Year

Edmonton, AB (Februry 16, 2024) – 

Female Rookie of the Year | Khushi Vaniya | The King's Eagles:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that Khushi Vaniya of The King’s University Eagles has been selected as the 2024 ACAC Female Rookie of the Year.

Khushi, at just seventeen years of age, has made a significant impact on the ACAC badminton circuit. Despite her generally quiet demeanor, once she steps onto the badminton court, she transforms into a fierce competitor. Her exceptional placement of the shuttle and composed defense make her a force to be reckoned with, capable of returning any opponent's shots with ease.

Despite her youth, Khushi possesses remarkable experience in the game, evident to anyone who watches her play. During matches, she demonstrates a keen sense of strategy, knowing precisely when to adjust the pace and tactics to secure victory. Moreover, Khushi exemplifies outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the court, consistently showing respect and positivity towards teammates and opponents alike.

Originally hailing from Gujarat, India, Khushi honed her badminton skills through years of competition and training in her home country. Now, as a first-year Psychology major at The King’s University, she continues to excel in the sport, achieving impressive results in her debut year in the ACAC. Partnering with Mahdi Admadi, Khushi secured first place twice in mixed doubles, claimed second place in women's singles, and earned a third-place finish in women's doubles.

The King’s University takes immense pride in Khushi's accomplishments and considers themselves fortunate to have her as part of their community. As she embarks on her collegiate journey, there is eager anticipation for the remarkable achievements she will undoubtedly accomplish in the future. Join us in congratulating Khushi Vaniya on being named the ACAC Female Rookie of The Year.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Badminton Championship hosted by NAIT in Edmonton, AB.


Male Rookie of the Year | Mahdi Ahmadi | The King's Eagles:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Madhi Admadi of The King’s University Eagles has been selected as the 2024 ACAC Male Rookie of the Year.

Madhi, aged 20, is originally from Iran and has taken the ACAC arena by storm, showcasing remarkable talent. His accomplishments include securing first place in Men's Singles, along with two second-place finishes in the same category. Additionally, Madhi has achieved three first-place victories in Mixed Doubles, partnering once with Abby Ledda and twice with Khushi Vaniya.

The King's University takes great pride in Madhi's achievements, viewing him as a shining example of a student-athlete who works hard at his academics, as well as being dedicated to improving his skills on the court. In this inaugural year in the ACAC, Madhi has proven his ability to adapt swiftly to various playing conditions and situations, displaying a strong work ethic and determination.

As we eagerly anticipate Madhi's future endeavors, there is no doubt that he will continue to impress and inspire both on and off the court. Please join us in congratulating Madhi Admadi on being named the ACAC Male Rookie of the year.
