2024 ACAC Badminton Players of the Year

Female Badminton Player of the Year | Jasleen Kaur | Concordia Thunder:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is thrilled to announce Jasleen Kaur of the Concordia Thunder as the 2024 ACAC Women's Badminton Player of the Year.

Jasleen Kaur's exceptional performance on the badminton court this season has been nothing short of outstanding. In a display of sheer dominance, she secured victory in all three tournaments in the women's singles category. Additionally, Kaur, in a remarkable partnership with Raphael Motel, clinched the mixed doubles title in tournament #2.

Athletic Director Nate MacLellan expressed his admiration, stating, "Jasleen's achievements this season are a testament to her commitment and skill on the badminton court. Her leadership has been pivotal in our team's success."

Jasleen Kaur is originally from Viking, Alberta, and is currently pursuing her fourth year in the Bachelor of Management program. Beyond her badminton skills, she has consistently demonstrated excellence in her academic pursuits.

The ACAC Women's Badminton Player of the Year award is a well-deserved honor for Jasleen Kaur, acknowledging her exceptional talent, dedication, and contributions to the sport. Congratulations on this remarkable achievement!

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Badminton Championship hosted by NAIT in Edmonton, AB.


Male Badminton Player of the Year | Mahdi Ahmadi | The King's Eagles:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Madhi Admadi of The King’s University Eagles as the 2024 ACAC Male Player of the Year.

In being named both the Male Player of the Year and Male Rookie of the Year, The King’s University recognizes what a momentous achievement this is for their badminton program and is very proud of Madhi’s accomplishments. Madhi's presence on the court is marked by exceptional stamina and confidence, allowing him to dictate the pace of play and compete effectively against any opponent, thanks to his superb fitness and extensive experience. Moreover, he demonstrates remarkable court intelligence and awareness, consistently making strategic plays and capitalizing on opponents' errors.

During practice sessions, Madhi's commitment to excellence is evident as he consistently goes above and beyond, seeking opportunities for continued improvement. His dedication and passion for badminton make him a natural leader for his teammates, inspiring them with his relentless work ethic and love for the game.

Madhi's addition to the King's Eagles has been invaluable, bringing with him years of experience gained from competing in numerous high-level tournaments in Iran and Vancouver, where he spent several years before coming to King’s in Edmonton. His achievements, including being selected to train with the national team in Iran and earning recognition as the best under-23 badminton player in BC for Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles in 2023, highlight his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

Once again, The King's University and its badminton program express immense pride in Madhi's accomplishments this year, recognizing that this is just the beginning of his promising journey. Please join us in congratulating Madhi Admadi on being named the ACAC Badminton Male Player of the Year.
