2023 ACAC Women's Soccer Players of the Year

Edmonton, AB (October 24, 2023) – 

North Female Player of the Year | VANESSA PIETRAMALA | Concordia Thunder:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is delighted to announce Vanessa Pietramala of the Concordia Thunder as the recipient of the 2023-24 ACAC Women's North Player of the Year award.

Pietramala's exceptional on-field performance has earned her this honour, a recognition of her extraordinary talent, sportsmanship, and dedication.

In an outstanding season, Pietramala showcased unmatched skills as a midfielder. Her playmaking and goal-scoring prowess were evident, accumulating an impressive total of 9 goals and 16 assists, making a significant contribution to her team's success. With a total of 34 points and 35 shots, she not only displayed accuracy but also strategic gameplay, establishing herself as a pivotal player in every match. Notably, Pietramala's 2 game-winning goals underscore her ability to shine when it matters most.

Nathaniel MacLellan, Director of Athletics & Recreation for Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE), expressed, "Vanessa's dedication and skill on the field have been exceptional this season. Her leadership as a midfielder has been instrumental in our team's victories. We are immensely proud of her achievements and look forward to witnessing her continued excellence."

Vanessa Pietramala, representing Edmonton, AB, is currently in her third year, pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree.

This prestigious accolade will be formally celebrated at the 2023 ACAC Women's Soccer Championship, hosted by NAIT, TKU, and CUE in Edmonton, Alberta. The Player of the Year award is proudly sponsored by Alberta Soccer.


South Female Player of the Year | MEAGAN WIEBE | SAIT Trojans:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) proudly announces Meagan Wiebe of the SAIT Trojans as the recipient of the 2023-24 ACAC Women's Soccer South Division Player of the Year.

Meagan Wiebe has sat atop the ACAC points leaderboard for the entirety of the season, as a true display of her dominance on the pitch. She has finished the regular season with 46 points, consisting of 17 goals, and 12 assists. Meaghan’s goal-scoring ability is equally matched with her ability to set her teammates up for their own goals, showing just how important she is to this Trojans team and how much of a force to be reckoned with in this league. 

Wiebe also broke the SAIT Trojans Women's Soccer singular regular season goals record which was previously 15.

“Meagan brings a level of intensity and excellence to our program that has proven to be contagious. Making her teammates better along the way as she lead the Trojans on the pitch and in the classroom. A multi sport athlete with that innate ability to elevate a team while engaging the whole group.
