2023 ACAC Men's Soccer Rookies of the Year

2023 ACAC Men's Soccer Rookies of the Year

Edmonton, AB (October 24, 2023) –

North Male Rookie of the Year | CHOOSEN JONES | NAIT Ooks:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is delighted to announce Choosen Jones of the NAIT Ooks as the recipient of the 2023-24 ACAC Men's North Rookie of the Year award.

Choosen Jones proved to be a formidable presence for the NAIT Ooks men's soccer team this season. Having started in 10 games this season, Jones made a significant impact, tallying two goals and four assists. His 18 shots throughout the season, coupled with a solid 0.111 shooting percentage, reflected his dedication and sharpshooting abilities.

Coach Jeff Paulus remarked, "First, when a player of that quality shows up at your doorstep wanting to come play, it's a coach's dream. Choosen is tenacious, he's much more of an attacking player from out wide, and he has a crazy pace. He has an incredible work ethic and a great attitude; he wants to play,”

Jones initiated his soccer journey with the St. Nicholas Soccer Academy before making the leap to the Whitecaps FC MLS Academy in 2019. As a first-year Open Studies student, he has a promising future in the sport.

This prestigious accolade will be formally celebrated at the 2023 ACAC Men's Soccer Championship, hosted by NAIT, TKU, and CUE in Edmonton, Alberta. The Rookie of the Year award is proudly sponsored by Alberta Soccer.

South Male Rookie of the Year | JON INGRAM | SAIT Trojans:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) proudly announces Jon Ingram of the SAIT Trojans as the recipient of the 2023-24 ACAC Men's Soccer South Division Rookie of the Year.

Jon Ingram emerges as one of the leading point-scorers in the ACAC, concluding the regular season with an impressive 26 points, comprising 11 goals and 5 assists. During his rookie season, Jon Ingram evolved into a pivotal player, initially making late-game appearances in the first four matches but steadily establishing himself as a formidable starter for the SAIT squad. Remarkably, having started just five games in his debut season, he has made a significant impact, not only on the talented Trojans team but also on the entire ACAC. Jon's remarkable consistency is evident in his goal-scoring prowess, having scored in every game he played this season.

“Jon is an exciting player to watch, with a contagious attitude and approach to the game. He is young, fast, strong and extremely talented. Jon brings a positive attitude and strong work ethic to the field and to campus. He is willing to learn and grow, but also manages to stay true to himself and brings his own unique talent to the Trojans program. We congratulate Jon on this award and look forward to seeing his success for years to come.” -Lauren Kucera, SAIT Trojans Manager of Athletics.

Hailing from Brampton, Ontario, Jon is a first-year Open Studies student and has participated in two different European trials for professional soccer teams.

This prestigious accolade will be formally acknowledged at the 2023 ACAC Men's Soccer Championship, hosted by NAIT, TKU, and Concordia in Edmonton, Alberta. The Rookie of the Year award is proudly sponsored by Alberta Soccer.
