2023 ACAC Men's Soccer Players of the Year

North Male Player of the Year | PETER JONES | NAIT Ooks:
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is delighted to announce Peter Jones of the NAIT Ooks as the recipient of the 2023-24 ACAC Men's North Player of the Year award.
Peter Jones had an outstanding season with the NAIT Ooks men’s soccer team. He exhibited a remarkable performance in a season characterized by exceptional dedication and skill, starting 11 out of 12 games and contributing with one goal and one assist. With 11 shots to his name, Jones' 0.91 shooting percentage demonstrated his precision and composure in front of the goal, solidifying his status as a top talent in the north's soccer scene.
"Peter is a player that every coach at any level wants. He covers more space than any other player I've ever worked with, wins more tackles, and keeps us in possession. He really is a player that's been playing at a higher level," said men's soccer Head Coach Jeff Paulus.
Jones began his career with Xtreme FC and moved to Victoria FC before joining the FC Edmonton Academy in 2017. Before starting his journey at NAIT, he was part of the FC Edmonton squad that competed in the 2019 Super Cup NI in Ireland, which brings in Clubs from all around the globe. The second-year Open Studies student has greatly impacted the NAIT Ooks men's soccer team.
This prestigious accolade will be formally celebrated at the 2023 ACAC Men's Soccer Championship, hosted by NAIT, TKU, and CUE in Edmonton, Alberta. The Player of the Year award is proudly sponsored by Alberta Soccer.
South Male Player of the Year | SENAY HAILE | SAIT Trojans:
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) proudly announces Senay Haile of the SAIT Trojans as the recipient of the 2023-24 ACAC Men's Soccer South Division Player of the Year.
Senay consistently proves to be a pivotal player on the field for the Trojans, expertly controlling the midfield during attacks and hustling to make crucial tackles on defense. Despite battling injuries throughout the season, Senay managed to contribute with 4 goals and 2 assists in the regular season. While points alone don't fully illustrate the profound impact Senay has on the Trojans, as well as the entire ACAC, this award serves as a testament to his significant influence.
“Senay has been the backbone of a very successful Trojans team, with his work ethic being instrumental to the team morale and positive environment. While his accolades on the soccer pitch attract the most attention I would have to say his quiet leadership attributes should shine the brightest.
