Isak Helland-Hansen honoured as 2016-17 ACAC Men’s Overall Athlete of the Year, sponsored by Konica Minolta

Medicine Hat, AB (April 5, 2017) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Isak Helland-Hansen of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers has been selected as the 2016-17 ACAC Male Player of the Year across all sports, sponsored by Konica Minolta.

Isak had an outstanding year on the court.  He finished with 202 kills (2.69 k/s), 125 digs (1.67 d/s) and 37 service aces (0.49 sa/s) during regular season play.  Isak also helped lead the Rattlers to an ACAC silver medal and a CCAA bronze medal. 

"Isak is an outstanding young man committed to excellence in the classroom, on the court, and in the world. He is committed to making the world a better place and his kindness, respect for others, and understanding in people make him a person who brightens other's lives. His work habits will ensure that he will achieve excellence in every field he pursues throughout his lifetime, and in the end we all will benefit. As a Rattler, Isak has set records for career kills and aces, but his greatest mark on MHC will be how he has improved the lives of people around him and promoted MHC to a higher level within Medicine Hat and in the world of Academia. Isak is an outstanding athlete, but more important is he is a terrific human being", says Head Coach Mark Porter.

Isak Helland-Hansen is a 6'1' outside hitter from Oystese, Hordaland, Norway.  He is in his third year of the Bachelor of Applied Science – Ecotourism program.  Isak received several awards this year including ACAC Player of the Year, CCAA All Canadian, CCAA Academic All Canadian and the CCAA National Men's Volleyball Player of the Year.
