GPRC’s Jamie Wigmore Honoured as 2015-16 Konica Minolta ACAC Female Athlete of the Year

Edmonton, April 14, 2016 – The ACAC is pleased to announce that GPRC runner Jaimie Wigmore has been named the 2015-16 ACAC Female Athlete of the Year across all ACAC Sports, generously sponsored by Konica Minolta.

Wigmore, who graduated in December 2015 with Bachelors of Commerce degree in the GPRC- Athabasca University collaborative program, is the most decorated Cross Country Running and Indoor Track runner in GPRC Wolves history.

Wigmore has won 11 ACAC individual medals, three ACAC team medals, CCAA Individual Silver Medal, CCAA Team Gold Medal and is now a three-time CCAA All Canadian. Jamie steadily improved in her four years in ACAC Cross Country Running advancing from fifth place in her first year to second place in her second and third year, and then first place in final year in 2015. Her progression at the CCAA National Championships level was steady as well, moving from 12th in her rookie year to second in 2015.

Academically, Wigmore has also excelled recently receiving 2016 CCAA Academic All Canadian distinction after having achieved a 4.0 GPA. She also received the ACAC Academic Award and the CCAA National Scholar Award each year she attended GPRC.

In addition to her academic and athletics achievements she volunteers for the Wolves Athletics Club program and was assistant coach for the Zone 8 track and field team at the 2014 Alberta Summer Games.
