Jana Laing, Lakeland Rustlers, Women's Volleyball

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Given her consistent excellence, seeing Jana Laing end her season on a high note seemed certain.

The fourth year setter followed up her MVP performance at the ACAC Championship by being named the top player at the CCAA Championship, quarterbacking the Rustlers to their second straight national title. In three matches, all of which were won in straight sets, Laing still compiled 80 assists, showing complete mastery of the position. She also contributed 18 digs, 5 aces, 2 kills and 2 blocks.

In total, Laing ends her season with the highest assists per set ratio in the country (9.74), All-Conference and All-Canadian honours, the ACAC Championship MVP and the CCAA Championship MVP, all while leading her team to back-to-back ACAC and CCAA titles, going 26-1 in matches and 73-7 in sets. An unbelievable run and an unbelievable career.

Jana Laing hails from Portage la Prairie and competed in her fourth year of eligibility at Lakeland College, while completing her Bachelor of Science.
