ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Jessica Engelbrecht had an outstanding weekend with the NAIT Ooks women’s hockey team.

She was a significant presence on the ice this past weekend and helped immensely in pushing the Ooks forward to advance to the ACAC Women’s Hockey Finals.

On Friday night in the series opener, she single-handedly kept the Ooks in the game, scoring both goals in a 3-2 loss to RDP. The next two nights, her penalty-killing efforts and ability to take critical faceoffs helped guide the Ooks to a series win.

The third-year Bachelor of Business Administration student from Lillooet, BC, will be a massive asset to the team as they take on the Lakeland Rustlers for the ACAC Women’s Hockey banner next week.

Next up, the NAIT Ooks will face off against the top-seeded Lakeland Rustlers in the semifinal series.
